The Information Commissioner (Slovenian National Supervisory Body for Personal Data Protection; hereinafter: IC) has received your inquiry concerning authorisation of your company in our country.
The IC would like to inform you that generally no special authorisation of the company from the point of view of personal data protection is required in the Republic of Slovenia. The IC can offer advice on issues related to the protection of personal data, but it is not in our jurisdiction to offer advice on broader issues of company authorisation/registration.
The IC also wishes to share with you that from the point of view of personal data protection, compliance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) must also be ensured in the Republic of Slovenia (similar to France and other EU Member States). This requirement applies to companies and to all other data controllers. IC has created a website where it is possible to find more information about the obligations of companies under the General Data Protection Regulation:
